I watched the “Game of Thrones” season 6 trailer just a couple of days ago and was immediately attracted to this acoustic version of “Wicked Game”. It really fit the mood of the series and I thought it was quite powerful. Of course it’s a redo of Chris Isaak’s hit song from 1989, but it’s quite raw and James Vincent Mcmorrow is a very stylized singer who gives a very emotional performance.
I figured a lot of people probably felt like I did and may want to learn how to play this version on guitar. It’s quite simple as there are just three chords in the entire song, but there are a couple of different picking patterns and variations on the chord transitions. It always amazes me how much feeling you can get from three chords if you have the talent to put them together with a strong melody and great lyrics. It also is interesting how a great song is always a great song no matter how it’s arranged.
