The First Noel | acoustic
An acoustic guitar lesson on how to play "The First Noel". It was first published back in 1823.
I only ever plan on doing one Christmas song, but every year I hear from so many people that love Christmas guitar music so again this year I'm doing a second tune. I was actually in the middle of working on a completely different acoustic song that's in open D. I started thinking about Christmas music, and this one just sort of happened! It's crazy arranging music in open tunings. It makes you feel like a beginner again because nothing makes any sense! I kind of like that feeling though because you start finding new things and tend to think less and just find notes that work. And apart from that, open tunings just sound so beautiful! Again with this arrangement I tried to get lots of ringing strings, I really love the way that sounds. This one is a little tougher to play than last week's "O Come All Ye Faithful" but it's not super hard either. There's a couple of bits that are tricky but over all if you've been playing a while you should be able to make sense of it fairly quickly. I really enjoyed putting this one together and I'm actually pretty happy with how it came out. I hope that you're are able to get something from the video and that you enjoy playing this arrangement. Merry Christmas everyone! Andy |
