Shake It Up by The Cars | solo
An electric guitar lesson on how to play the guitar solo from "Shake It Up" by The Cars from their album of the same name released in 1981. Elliot Easton has always been one of my favorite guitar players. He came up with so many excellent solos for all of those Cars songs. His guitar solo in this one is absolutely killer! I've said before that my some of my favorite solos are the ones in the middle of pop/rock tunes. There's something about only having thirty to forty seconds to do your thing that tends to brings out the best in guitar players. Elliot came up with some of the most memorable short solos ever! In fact this solo is only around thirty seconds, but it contains techniques and skills that could take years to develop and master.
It sounds easy when you're just listening to it, but to nail all of the bends and play it up to speed, in tune and in time will take some work for most players, even experienced ones! I've included my backing track as a separate video so you can practice it with no lead guitar track in the way. I've had so many requests for my backing tracks that I may start including some of them when I release the lessons. I hope you enjoy the videos. Cheers Andy |
