Secret Heart by Ron Sexsmith | rhythm

An electric guitar lesson on how to play “Secret Heart" by Ron Sexsmith.

I heard this song for the first time six days ago when I was watching an X-files episode called “Babylon.” The song came on near the end of the show and I just thought that it was a beautiful song.

I must have listened to it ten times in a row, just loving it more each time. Ron Sexsmith is a gifted songwriter. He reminds me a little of Paul McCartney.

He really knows how to weave the melodies and the words and just express what he’s feeling so accurately and perfectly.

Anyways, I thought that maybe other people had heard the song for the first time like me and would want to learn how to play it, so here it is.

I go over the main guitar part in the lesson. There is a vibraphone that comes in on the left channel on the original recording, but I just kinda faked that with my guitar in the demo.

There’s nothing complicated about this song, but like I always say, it doesn’t have to be complicated to be good and this is a great example of that.

I had a really great time working on this song. I hope you enjoy the videos. Cheers
Andy
