Operator (That's Not The Way It Feels) by Jim Croce | acoustic

Picture
An acoustic guitar lesson on how to play “Operator (That's Not The Way It Feels)" by Jim Croce from his 1972 album, You Don't Mess Around With Jim.

I've had a ton of requests for this song over the years so I finally decided to get'er done!

This is a great song. The lyrics are especially good and of course the guitar parts are excellent, Jim's finger picking part and Maury Muehleisen's beautiful fills.

Maury gets a lot of well deserved credit and his fills in this song really make it but Jim was a great guitar player too and an excellent finger picker. To be able to sing and at the same time play this very busy guitar part shows the kind of talent he had. That was just the way it was in the seventies though, you had to be able to do it all, play your instrument, sing and write hits before you got signed!

I go over both guitar parts in detail in the video but since there are SO many notes being played, it's impossible for me to go over every one of them. Getting the tab will be helpful for most people.

This is one of my longest videos, but the chapters feature makes it easy to go straight to the section you need.

I spent a lot of time making this video. It was a real project! So I hope that you enjoy it and that it helps you to learn these great guitar parts. Cheers
Andy
