O Come All Ye Faithful | acoustic

An acoustic guitar lesson on how to play "O Come All Ye Faithful". I always liked this song. It was composed way back in 1744 originally written in Latin as "Adeste Fideles".

The following is from Wikipedia:

"Besides John Francis Wade, the tune has been purported to be written by several musicians, from John Reading and his son to Handel and even Gluck, including the Portuguese composers Marcos Portugal or the king John IV of Portugal himself. Thomas Arne, whom Wade knew, is another possible composer.

There are several similar musical themes written around that time, though it can be hard to determine whether these were written in imitation of the hymn, the hymn was based on them, or they are totally unconnected."

This a simple arrangement. I tried to keep as many open strings ringing as I could, sort of like a harp. To do this, you need to make sure that you're coming down on the strings so that you don't inadvertently mute strings that should be ringing.

Like most things with guitar playing, It's easier said than done!

I really enjoyed putting this one together. There's something about Christmas songs that just work well with the guitar.

I hope you enjoy the video and have fun playing this classic Christmas hymn. Cheers
Andy
