Is This Love by Whitesnake | solo
An electric guitar lesson on how to play the solo from "Is This Love" by Whitesnake from their "1987" album released April 19, 1987.
Written and played by John Sykes, this is a masterful solo. As well as amazing feel, it has everything you want in a great solo, melody, great tone and sustain, awesome vibrato and a little bit of speed at the end. Sykes was a highly under rated and virtually unknown guitarist by most people. It's a shame because he had an enormous amount of natural talent not only as a guitarist but also as a singer. He was hired by David Coverdale to join Whitesnake and wound up co-writing some of their biggest hits. Just before they were to set out to tour the album, Coverdale fired the entire band! Who knows what that was about, but I'm sure there's more than one side to the story. Sykes came to Whitesnake from Thin Lizzy. He was just twenty three when he joined Thin Lizzy and was brought in to replace Snowy White. He was with them from 1982 to 1983. I hope you enjoy this tutorial on an absolutely excellent solo and I hope that it helps you to learn how to play it. Cheers Andy |
