I Just Want To Celebrate | electric
An electric guitar lesson on "I Just Want To Celebrate" by Rare Earth from their 1971 album One World.
This is such a great funky song! The guitar part, played by a Ray Monette, is just awesome and is really fun to play but the main attraction of Rare Earth was their singer, Peter Rivera who also plays the drums. Not only does he have an amazing voice, he's a killer drummer. Just one of those super talented dudes! Playing funky guitar parts is all about muting the strings and keeping the rhythm while letting only the notes you want to sound. It's a real feel kind of a thing that takes a bit to develop. It's definitely worth while learning how to do it. It can add a lot of power to your lead playing too. Usually I use a drum machine for my demos, but for this I hired a drummer. His name is Trent Otter. It's a very complex drum part and Trent nailed every aspect of it. If you need a great drummer I highly recommend him. You can reach him through his Instagram page or check out his YouTube channel. I loved working on this song. It reminded me of how great the music and musicianship was back in the seventies when you actually had to have real talent to get signed! I hope that you enjoy the video and that it helps you to learn this great song. Cheers Andy |
