Happy With You by Paul McCartney | acoustic

An acoustic guitar lesson on how to play “Happy With You” by Paul McCartney from the album “Egypt Station” released on September 7th, 2018.

I had a request to do a tutorial on this song a couple of weeks ago. I'd heard a few tracks from the new album, but had never heard this song before.

The person that requested it said they thought it was another McCartney acoustic classic and after listening to it a couple of times, I completely agree! Such a sweet song!

Even in his mid seventies, Paul still has the ability to come up with some really beautiful music. Here's a short video of him talking about how he came up with it.

The guitar parts aren't hard to play and with the thumb keeping fours on the D string throughout most of the tune, it really rings.

The trick with simple songs like this is to play them in time and not speed up or slow down. Most musicians will have a tendency to do one or the other. Hopefully, you don't do both!

As with all of PM's finger picking tunes, it's played with just the thumb and first finger. Of course you can play it any way you want, but Paul's only ever used one finger in these types of songs!

I had a great time putting this video together so I hope you enjoy it and have fun playing this great acoustic McCartney tune. Cheers
Andy
