God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen | acoustic

An acoustic guitar lesson on how to play God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
This one goes way back to the sixteenth century. I've always really liked the haunting nature of this tune. I tried to get as many open strings ringing as I could in my arrangement as I like that sort of harp type sound. I put a bit of delay on the guitar and also used the same reverb plugin that I used on last year's "We Three Kings" lesson. It's called "The Abbey of Fossanova" and is part of the Valhalla Room reverb plugin. It's an awesome sounding reverb. There are a couple of tricky bits in this one, but once you break them down and learn to play them slowly, speeding them up will not be too tough depending on where you're at with your playing. I always have a really good time working out Christmas songs. They seem to suit the guitar. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a Happy new year also! Cheers Andy |
