Any Way You Want It by Journey | solo

An electric guitar lesson on how to play the guitar solo to "Anyway You Want It" by Journey from their 1980 album Departure.

It's played by their excellent guitarist Neal Schon.

This is a fantastic guitar solo! It has a little of everything, melodic lines, great vibrato, some really tough bends and of course two or three really killer fast licks.

It's definitely for advanced players and will be challenging even for them!

Learning this is a really great insight into playing those super fast triplet type runs, something that Neal Schon does a lot.

Neil's playing is just excellent. He has a real feel for melody and most of his solos are built the same way. He'll have a motif that he'll do variations on.

These lines are always super melodic and "singable". But then he'll throw in these incredibly fast pentatonic based licks.

A lot like Gary Moore, it's all about the melody but with a few ferocious licks thrown in for good measure.

I hope you enjoy the lesson and that it in some way helps you out on this very tough solo! Cheers
Andy
